The General Assembly

The General Assembly of the Standing Commission of the Local Police is composed of eighteen Heads of Corps of the Local Police Areas and four observers.

The Commission's General Assembly is composed as follows:

  1. of members with voting rights: eighteen heads of Local Police forces, elected for four years,
  2. of observers in an advisory capacity:
  • the Director-General of the Directorate General for Security and Prevention – which comes under the Belgian Federal Public Service (FPS) Home Affairs – or his/her representative,
  • a member of the Belgian Home Affairs’ Administrative and Technical Secretariat,
  • a member of the Belgian FPS Justice’s Administrative and Technical Secretariat,
  • the President of the Council of Mayors or his/her representative.

In compliance with its Internal Rules, the Standing Commission of the Local Police may ask experts to participate in its activities. These experts are not entitled to vote.

The meetings of the Standing Commission of the Local Police are held at the premises of the Federal Public Service Home Affairs, Rue du Commerce 96, 1040 Etterbeek/Brussels (map link).  However, the Chairperson can decide to meet elsewhere.

The General Assembly meetings of the Standing Commission of the Local Police are not public.
